Buffalo DSA’s committees, or work groups, give our members opportunities to participate in, learn about, and advance socialist initiatives using the member-directed strategy crafted at our Annual Convention. Please contact us to be connected to a committee!
Electoral
The politics of the United States are currently captured by capitalist interests, and served by a duopoly of capitalist parties. We seek to change that by upending the political hierarchy through base building, political cohesion, and party formation.
Healthcare
We organize campaigns to pressure local politicians to co-sponsor legislation such as Medicare for All, the Emergency Healthcare Guarantee Act, and the New York Health Act, alongside political education on the material benefits of healthcare reform.
Infrastructure
We work to advance a vision of the city as a collective project for the satisfaction of the human needs for housing, mobility, food security, membership in a community, and a livable environment. We fight for tenant protections and better transit.
Labor
We organize to grow and support a robust and resilient labor movement in Buffalo with a foundation in political education and socialist principles of class consciousness.
Membership
A healthy growing organization does not happen without hard work. We develop and maintain internal processes for the chapter to support and grow its base of active volunteers, and develop community outreach through social events.
Political Education
Our members come from all backgrounds and levels of education. We work to develop in Buffalo DSA members a materialist and Marxist theory of politics, economics, history, and other fields critical to achieving class consciousness through reading and group discussion in an open and friendly environment.
